Official visit of the Chief of Staff of the Navy and National Maritime Authority to IH
The Hydrographic Institute (IH) received this week, on June 4, 2018, the first official visit of the Navy Chief of Staff and National Maritime Authority (CEMA and AMN), Admiral António Mendes Calado.
Admiral CEMA and AMN visited the Hydrographic Base, located in Seixal, and the headquarters facilities, in Lisbon. The Director General of the Hydrographic Institute, Rear Admiral António Coelho Cândido, presented the capabilities and challenges of the IH in the areas of marine sciences and techniques, useful to the Navy, the scientific community and the country in general. The visit program also included the inauguration of the exhibition titled "Mapping the Portuguese Sea: Cartography - from discoveries to current events" by the Admiral's Chief of Staff and National Maritime Authority.
At the end of the visit, Admiral CEMA and AMN signed the Book of Honor and offered a few words of appreciation for the work done at the IH and encouraged all military and civilians to continue to give their best in favor of IH, the Navy and Portugal.
