Guided visit to the "Trinas do Mocambo" Convent
The Hydrographic Institute (HI), an organ of the Portuguese Navy, besides its fundamental mission, which is to ensure activities related to the sciences and techniques of the sea, is open for cultural visits related to the history of the building where it has been located since 1969, the former Convent of the "Trinas do Mocambo".
On November 11, the HI received a group of twenty-six persons to visit the old convent which still preserves the artistic elements of high historical and patrimonial value, namely its eighteenth-century tiles, the monumental staircase leading to the lower choir, the cloister and the grandiose convent kitchen with their sinks and salting pitchers in marble.
