Professor Nuno Crato's visit to the IH
The former Minister of Education and Science, Professor Nuno Crato, visited the Hydrographic Institute (IH) on March 11, 2022.
On the day he taught his last class at the Institute of Economics and Management of the University of Lisbon (ISEG), Professor Nuno Crato participated in a workshop on time series and, being one of the themes of the agenda the use of Fourier transforms for series analysis, one of the examples given was the tide gauge Lord Kelvin of the IH, which is one of the few existing examples in the world.
The Lord Kelvin tide gauge is a highly valued and preserved piece of equipment by the IH and, as part of this workshop, the participants had a brief visit to our facilities and watched a presentation on how the gauge works.
