Representatives of the IPQ visit the Hydrographic Institute
The Hydrographic Institute (IH) received this Tuesday, 13 March, the visit of three representatives of the Portuguese Quality Institute (IPQ): Dr. Isabel Gandhi-Director of the Metrology department, doctor João Alves and Sousa-director of National Metrology Laboratory, and Dr. Florbela days-in charge of the reference Gas Lab.
After the welcome of Commander Mesquita, the technical director of IH, the elements of the IPQ went through the technical direction, where they were able to exchange information about the capacities in the areas of the hydrographic, navigation, oceanography, the systems of Geographical information, geology and chemistry of the marine environment.
This visit occurred following a proposal by IH to be designated laboratory (ID) for determining parameters in the area of inorganic chemistry of the marine environment and IPQ to consider that IH is in a position to be indicated as ID (a) The determination of the silica and mercury parameters in the formal proposal to be submitted by the IPQ to the International Committee on Weights and Measures (CIPM) of the BIPM.
The Hydrographic Institute has a quality management system implemented, according to the normative reference EN ISO/IEC 17025, and is accredited by IPAC in the field of testing in the marine Environment (L0490 certificate) and calibration of sensors Hidro-oceanográficos (M091 certificate).
