The Calibration Laboratory is Celebrating!
On September 21, 2007, the Calibration Laboratory of the Hydrographic Institute was inaugurated at the Azinheira Hydrographic Base in Seixal, now part of the Maritime Instrumentation Center (CIM).
This laboratory conducts various calibration tests, including in the following areas:
- Hydrostatic Pressure: Calibration of hydro-oceanographic pressure sensors* and calibration of gauges and relative pressure transducers*;
- Pneumatic Pressure: Calibration of pressure sensors with modular pressure controllers*;
- Temperature: Calibration of hydro-oceanographic temperature sensors*, measurement of seawater electrical conductivity through temperature variation, and determination of the speed of sound in seawater through temperature variation.
In 2023, CIM began the year by calibrating thermistors for 20 Wavy floaters as part of the Meloa project. CIM's accredited calibration laboratory is a reference in the field of temperature, with an uncertainty of 0.003°C in a range of values from 0°C to 30°C. This project involves calibrating 40 thermistors for the 20 Wavy floaters (with 2 thermistors each).
*Testing accredited according to NP EN ISO/IEC 17025 (IPAC).
