Mission of the Hydrographic Brigade in the Archipelago of the Azores
As part of the updating of navigation charts for the ports of the Autonomous Region of the Azores, a team of the Hydrographic Brigade held, during July 2017, top-hydrographic surveys at the port of Praia da Vitória and Angra do Heroísmo. The objective of this work is to verify bathymetric evolution and collect data in order to guarantee the safety of navigation.
This work was also an opportunity for learning for another trainee of the School of Hydrography and Oceanography who is attending the Technical Hydrography Course.
The work was accompanied by a Spanish naval officer, Lieutenant of Ship Cristian Pérez Vela, who works at the Hydrographic Institute of the Navy (IHM), within the scope of cooperation between the Portuguese Hydrographic Institute and its Spanish counterpart.
