Hydrographic Institute registers historic peak during the passage of depression "Domingos"

The MONIZEE network of the Hydrographic Institute recorded, on the 4th and 5th of November 2023, with the passage of depression "Domingos," a worsening of the sea state off the coast of mainland Portugal.

On November 4th, a maximum height of 20.3m was observed at 9 pm, and a significant height of 12.6m at 10 pm, at the Leixões Oceanic buoy, located 75 kilometers off the coast.

At the coastal buoy of Leixões, situated approximately 20 kilometers from the shore, maximum heights of 18.1m and significant heights of 11.3m were recorded on November 4th at 9 pm.

The mentioned values represent historic peaks recorded by the buoys of the Hydrographic Institute for the northern area of mainland Portugal (Leixões).
