Hydrographic Institute hosts lecture "Blue Carbon on the Portuguese Mainland Coast"

Within the framework of the protocol between the Hydrographic Institute (IH) and the University of Algarve, the IH welcomed Professor Rui Santos, coordinator of the ALGAE Research Group - Ecology of Marine Plants at the Center for Marine Sciences of the University of Algarve, yesterday, May 14th.

The visit aimed to strengthen the existing collaboration between the two institutions regarding data sharing and knowledge of coastal ecosystems, which are still poorly understood, with a view to assessing their potential for carbon sequestration and storage in marine sediments. On this subject, Professor Rui Santos delivered a lecture entitled "Blue Carbon on the Portuguese Mainland Coast".
