Hydrographic Institute participates in Eurachem workshop
On May 22nd and 23rd, the Workshop Ensuring reliable and accurate results of analytical processes took place at the Federal Institute of Metrology (METAS) in Bern. Instituto Hidrográfico participated in the workshop through the Division of Chemistry and Marine Pollution.
The workshop addressed topics related to the analytical process, from sampling and sample preparation to measurement. All these stages contribute to the measurement uncertainty of a given result, which can be interpreted in a more appropriate and accurate way.
The Hydrographic Institute presented 2 poster works at the workshop titled "Assessment of trends and correlations of parameters of a vast oceanic area robust to data uncertainty" by TS Carlos Borges, "Objective assessment of the evolution of microplastic contamination in sediments from a vast coastal area" by TSB Vanessa Morgado, and an oral presentation titled "Comparison of standardized and novel methods for oil pill source identification in real spill scenarios reproduced in proficiency tests" by TS Ana Catarina Rocha.
