The Hydrographic Institute participates in the Assembly of the International Hydrographic Organization
From May 1st to 5th, 2023, the 3rd Assembly of the International Hydrographic Organization (IHO) is taking place in Monaco, where the Hydrographic Institute is participating. The IHO, currently with 98 member states, of which Portugal is a founding member since 1921, aims to coordinate and ensure quality standards in data acquisition and cartographic production, including standardization and timely availability, essential for navigation safety and other maritime activities.
At the current Assembly, with 56 countries present and representatives from various international organizations and the industry, an extensive 5-day agenda is being discussed, which includes the IHO's strategic themes, analysis of work carried out in the last three years, and the definition of guidelines for the future, in a time of profound technological transformations in hydrography.
