Hydrographic Institute at the 2024 International Conference on Underwater Gliders in Gothenburg, Sweden
The Hydrographic Institute participated with two presentations at the International Underwater Glider Conference (IUGC 2024), held in Gothenburg, Sweden.
The event was organized by the Voice of the Ocean Foundation (VOTO) and supported by OceanGliders and EuroGOOS, the European Global Ocean Observing System.
Over the past five days, exceptional opportunities were established for the exchange of experiences and knowledge regarding the development of best practices among members of the glider community. Participants also had the chance to engage directly with glider manufacturers, facilitating productive dialogue about the latest technological innovations.
One of the highlights of the event was the visit to the Voice of the Ocean Foundation (VOTO), where participants had close contact with the gliders and the facilities for preparing these devices during a workshop held as part of IUGC 2024. This experience provided an in-depth view of VOTO's operations and innovations.
For the international glider community, technological advances are of great interest, representing significant opportunities for the development of new research projects. IUGC 2024 underscored the importance of collaboration and knowledge sharing to drive progress in this vital field for the observation and preservation of the oceans.
