Hydrographic Institute and Oceanic Platform of the Canary Islands launch glider
Last week, the Hydrographic Institute, with the support of the NRP Andrómeda, launched a glider (an autonomous vehicle without its own propulsion) from the Oceanic Platform of the Canary Islands (PLOCAN) as part of the collaboration between both institutions, off the coast of Cabo Espichel.
The glider will autonomously collect oceanographic data and transmit it to land via satellite for approximately two months in the area of the Setúbal Submarine Canyon, in partnership with the iFado project, integrated into the PAAnoramic mission.
