Hydrographic Institute presents work at the European Geosciences Union - General Assembly
The Hydrographic Institute presented the study "Predicting bathymetry in shallow regions using a machine learning model and a time series of PlanetScope images" at the session "Strategies and Applications of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning in a Spatiotemporal Context" of the European Geosciences Union General Assembly last week.
The study revealed the results obtained for the bathymetry of the coastal region of Tavira, using only multispectral images together with a pre-trained Machine Learning model.
This study allowed to verify the applicability of Machine Learning models in estimating bathymetry in shallow regions, in an expedited manner and using only in-situ data acquisition for model training.
