IH visits the Hydrographic Institute of the Spanish Navy
The Director-General of the Hydrographic Institute (IH), Rear-Admiral Mário Simões Marques, visited on the 4th May, the Hydrographic Institute of the Spanish Marina (IHM), based in Cadiz.
In the scope of the fifth bilateral meeting between the Hydrographic Institute of the Spanish Navy and the Hydrographic Institute, this meeting, which takes place annually, has as main objective to plan and define cooperation actions, giving continuity to the collaboration between the two institutes.
The defined actions aim at sharing knowledge, procedures and experiences, with the purpose of improving the response capacity in the activities under the responsibility of both Institutes, as well as optimizing the available resources in works carried out in areas of common interest.
There was also the opportunity to hold a ceremony to present two nautical charts, namely:
- On the part of the IH: New Edition of Nautical Chart 26409 - 2nd Edition April 2022 "Approaches to the Minho River Bar (Caminha Port Plan)"
- On behalf of IHM: Nautical Chart 4171, 1st Edition April 2022, "A Guarda and Pasaxe Ports".
The publication of these charts resulted from a joint effort between the IH and the IHM in carrying out hydrographic surveys, sharing hydrographic and cartographic information and standardizing cartographic representation in border areas.
The IH entourage also included Captain Miguel Bessa Pacheco, Commander João Vicente and Engineer Ana Moura.
