Completed top-hydrographic surveys in Boavista and Sal

The Hydrographic Brigade (BH) completed the fieldwork in the ports of Sal-Rei (Boavista Island) and Palmeira (Sal Island), in a campaign that lasted 5 days.

These works, which are part of the Open Sea Initiative, had as objectives verify the bathymetric evolution of the fund and the data collection for cartographic updating.

Works performed at the Sal-Rei Port for 3 days:

  • Coordination of 4 floating aids and 1 fixed aids;
  • Assembly of a tide gauge to support the hydrographic survey;
  • Topographic survey of new port structures;
  • Probing with Multibeam System.

Works performed at the Palmeira Port for 2 days:

  • Coordination of 10 floating navigation aids;
  • Assembly of a tide gauge to support the hydrographic survey;
  • Probing with Multibeam System.

For the accomplishment of these works the team was composed by the following elements: the Boat "Cagarra" through the NRP D. Carlos I, counting on the 4 elements of the Hydrographic Brigade (HB) and with 2 reinforcements, the Head of Hydrography Service of the NRP D. Carlos I (Second Lieutenant STH Reis Videira) and a Guest Officer of the Spanish Navy specialized in Hydrography (Lieutenant of Navarre Jesus Ortiz).
