National Maritime Agency of Angola Visits the Hydrographic Institute
From September 14 to 18, 2023, a delegation from the National Maritime Agency of Angola (AMN) visited the Hydrographic Institute (IH) for technical meetings within the scope of technical-scientific cooperation in the field of hydrography.
The delegation consisted of the Administrator for Maritime Safety and Hydrography, Commander José Santana, the Administrator of Local Services, Engineer Edgardo Ferreira, the Director of Hydrography, Oceanography, and Research, Engineer Hélder Rufino, and the Inspector of Maritime Safety, Higino Gonga.
AMN is the Angolan institution responsible for maritime safety, hydrographic surveys, and nautical cartography production. However, it is still in the process of developing these national capabilities.
In addition to being the national hydrographic service, IH is also responsible for updating the cartography of Angola's maritime spaces in relation to the International Hydrographic Organization and the maritime community in general.
Training, technical support, and the planning of hydrographic surveys in Angola were topics on the agenda. IH is internationally recognized for its hydrographic cooperation with Portuguese-speaking countries as well.
