Maintenance and periodic replacement of buoys

This film was obtained in the sea off the Selvagens Islands, Madeira Archipelago, during the action of replacing the wavewell CSA93, held on July 14 to 16, 2018.

In addition to showing tasks performed by Navy divers, the film shows the encrustation of various marine organisms along the mooring and in the buoy, causing material wear and interference in the operation of the sensors.

The maintenance and periodic replacement of the buoys that make up the monitoring network of the Hydrographic Institute is therefore essential to ensure the quality of the information on the conditions of the sea in real time made available to the public daily.
