Rosette sampler

Video sent by NRP Almirante Gago Coutinho during the mission of the fourth phase of the AQUIMAR project, held from February 24 to March 22, 2020.

This video shows an oceanographic equipment taking samples of sea water, at different depths.

This is the Rosette sampler. This sampler is lowered into the water column by means of oceanographic winches and consists of a circular assembly of several Niskin bottles coupled with a remote closure system activated, at the established depths, from a command that is on board the ship.

This sampler is also associated with a CTD water column profiler, an oceanographic instrument that has sensors to record the Conductivity, Temperature and Pressure in the water column.
