Commander Santos Fernandes is the new head of the Oceanography Division

On September 7, 2018, the ceremony of delivery of the position of Head of the Division of Oceanography of the Technical Direction of the Hydrographic Institute was held. Commander Santos Martinho, after eight years at the helm of the Division, left the leadership to meet a new challenge, to perform the functions of Technical Director of Military Technical Cooperation in São Tomé and Príncipe.

Commander Carlos Santos Fernandes, an officer with a lot of experience in the area, for 18 years at the Hydrographic Institute, was the official chosen to head the Division of Oceanography.

Commander Carlos Santos Fernandes, Hydrographic Engineer, has a master's degree in oceanography from the Naval Postgraduate School between 2003-2005, and has led several oceanographic missions, headed several sections, namely the Oceanographic Engineering section and the Operational Oceanography section.
