Hydrographic Institute in the EMSA course on sampling procedures for petroleum products
The "First Training on Oil Spill Sampling under Consultative Technical Group for Marine Pollution Preparedness and Response (CTG MPPR)", prepared by the Agency European Maritime Safety Agency (EMSA) was held at the Jovellanos Center in Gijón on 19 and 20 September, .
This course was attended by TS Catarina Rocha, from the Division of Chemistry and Pollution of the Marine Environment, who has been carrying out the chemical analysis of samples collected in oil pollution incidents and contributing as a trainer, together with the Combat Service to Maritime Pollution of the General Directorate of Maritime Authority, in the course of collecting samples of marine pollution offenses for maritime police officers.
This course was based on a theoretical component, which focused on the sampling procedures to be applied in numerous situations and the presentation of sampling kits used by different European laboratories, as well as a strong practical component where it was possible to apply the theoretical knowledge acquired.
