Hydrographic Institute in the II Demonstration and Means of Civil Protection Agents - Safety and Relief

In the period from September 28 to 30, the "II Demonstration and Means of Civil Protection Agents - Security and Relief in Lisbon 2018" was held in the city of Lisbon, Parque das Nações.

This event was attended by and demonstrated the means and capacities of the National Civil Protection Authority (ANPC), the Lisbon Civil Protection Service, Fire Brigade, the National Institute of Medical Emergency, the Red Cross, the Armed Forces, the National Maritime Authority and Agents of Civil Protection of the parish council of Parque das Nações.

The Hydrographic Institute, through the Meteorological and Oceanographic Center Naval (CMETOC), was present at this event, together with other capabilities of the Navy and the Armed Forces. A new geospatial information integration system was presented and demonstrated, able to geolocalize real-time military forces on the ground and build a common operational picture to support their command and control. This system, called GEOMIL, was developed at CMETOC and used this year to support the participation of the Marine Force engaged in patrolling and forest monitoring under the FAUNOS protocol and the HEFESTO plan established respectively with the Institute of Nature Conservation and Forestry ( ICNF) and ANPC.
