i-Plastic Oceanographic Campaign
Within the scope of the international project i-plastic - Dispersion and impacts of micro- and nano-plastics in the tropical oceans: from regional land-ocean interface to the open ocean, is currently underway aboard the NRP “Andrómeda”, more an oceanographic campaign aimed at characterizing the existence and provenance of microplastics on the Portuguese continental shelf between Ovar (north of the Ria de Aveiro) and Leiria (south of the Mondego River Estuary).
The team is made up of technicians from the IH and FCT-UNL who, with their commitment and the ship's crew, covered more than 1/3 of the total area planned on the first day of work.
