Study of natural extreme events (tsunami type), occurring in the Portuguese southern coast, by a multidisciplinary approach, focusing:

1. the study of the sedimentary record and the identification of past events along the Holocene;
2. determination of the period of return of events and
3. numerical modelling od the impact of tsunami waves on the coastal system.

FCT

• Participation in the METEOR M152 campaign (November 2-13, 2018), with collection of vertical samples (with IH vibrocorer) and seismic reflection profiles;
• Laboratory analysis for the textural and mineralogical characterization of 5 surveys, corresponding to more than 400 sediment subsamples (task interrupted by the pandemic COVID 19);
• Support in conducting a geophysical survey with sub-bottom profiler and sparker system, belonging to the University of Ghent (January 2020).
