MarRisk

This project aims to promote the smart and sustainable growth of the coastal areas of Galicia and Northern Portugal by assessing the most important coastal risks in a climate change scenario. Situations such as floods, intensification of extreme events, episodes of toxic algae or coastal erosion are examples of risks to be analyzed in order to improve the resilience of traditional economic sectors and other emerging sectors such as marine renewable energies.

The MarRisk Project is a project in which the Hydrographic Institute participates in the scope of the RAIA Observatory.

Percentage of financial execution - 70%

Programa Operativo de Cooperação Transfronteiriço Portugal – Espanha (POCTEP INTERREG V A 2014 – 2020).

The Hydrographic Institute is the coordinator of activity 1 - Consolidation of a knowledge infrastructure for the evaluation of coastal risks in the context of climate change - being therefore involved in actions related to this task, namely action 1.1 which consists of updating and consolidating observational series of meteo-oceanographic parameters and in action 1.2 where it is intended to identify the most appropriate environmental indicators for the assessment of coastal risks associated with climate change.
